Using Ugandan adolescents living with HIV, we analyzed the connection between internalized HIV stigma, resilience, health locus of control, coping self-efficacy, and empowerment. A cross-sectional study of adolescents aged 13 to 18 years, conducted at the HIV clinic of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital, spanned the period from August to October 2020, encompassing 173 participants. After controlling for individual factors (resilience, health locus of control, coping self-efficacy, and empowerment), and societal demographics (education level and boarding school status), only internal health locus of control (β = -0.0044, p = 0.0016) and coping self-efficacy (β = -0.0015, p < 0.0001) exhibited a statistically significant link to HIV stigma. Interventions targeting internal locus of control, empowerment, and resilience, among intrapersonal factors, are indicated by the study to potentially reduce HIV stigma amongst adolescents in boarding schools.

Data from the Swedish national health care registry for hand surgery (HAKIR) were utilized to examine the relationship between patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and the original Strickland classification in the aftermath of flexor tendon injuries within Zones 1 and 2. The combined effects of inadequate physical activity, unhealthy weight, a high prevalence of chronic health conditions, and psychosocial distress are unfortunately common among middle-aged women, resulting in a detrimental impact on well-being and quality of life. This study investigates the possible association between moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and adiposity (%Fat) with sexual well-being and MENQOL outcomes in postmenopausal women, while accounting for health status (chronic conditions and medications) and psychosocial well-being (depressive symptoms and perceived stress). To gather participants, community flyers and email advertisements were employed to recruit postmenopausal women (n=68, average age 58.634 years, 80.9 percent married/partnered, 51.5 percent overweight/obese, nonsmoking). Participants' schedules included two laboratory visits, conducted 7 to 10 days apart. Accelerometers objectively tracked MVPA, while DXA assessed adiposity. Participants' health status, depressive symptoms, perceived stress, sexual well-being, and MENQOL were also measured using self-report questionnaires. The findings demonstrated an association (r = 0.27, p < 0.05) between lower moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) and higher body fat percentages, resulting in lower physical function scores on the MENQOL scale. Analyses using hierarchical regression techniques showed that the presence of more chronic conditions, medications, and depressive symptoms was associated with a diminished sense of sexual well-being, irrespective of MVPA and body fat percentage (standardized range = 0.22-0.56).
